House Cleaning Tips to Keep Your Home Fresh

Leading a busy lifestyle is on a whole new level, especially with the pandemic still lingering in our midst. That’s why Crystal Cleaning is here to provide you with some house cleaning tips to keep your home fresh all year long!

If you lead a busy lifestyle—as I’m sure you do—it becomes challenging to keep the house tidy. You may start the week with a mostly clean and orderly home. But you realize that you haven’t put away your dry-cleaning and haven’t folded your laundry by midweek. To top it all off: there’s a growing stack of mail in the kitchen. Not to mention there’s a pile of dirty shoes by the door and unwashed dishes in the sink.

By Friday, the house is a full-blown disaster zone—that is, until you rest from your week and tackle the massive (and much-needed) tidying-up job. Then the cycle starts all over again. We promise it’s quicker than you think. Keep scrolling to study up on the house cleaning tips that will permanently transform your home state.

Do yourself a favor and adopt these smart daily house cleaning tips, so you never have to spend your precious weekend tidying up the house.

Begin in the Place Where you Begin your Day: The Bedroom

Start your day by making the bed as soon as you get up. Doing this first thing in the morning will kick-start your productivity levels and make it that much harder to crawl back into bed.

Wipe your bedside table each morning. Keep wipes near your bedside table. Give your nightstand a quick wipe before picking up your phone in the morning. That’s one less chore to tackle on the weekend. It also helps keep your mind stay fresh.

Update your closet as you choose outfits. Keep a bag in your closet where you can throw clothing items that don’t work anymore. The best time to do this is in the morning when you’re getting ready for work. Sort through the bag once a month, and toss, donate, or sell items you no longer need. Decluttering is a surefire way to keep your mind fresh!

End Where You Began: Finish in the Bedroom

Immediately rehang or fold items you wore that aren’t dirty. Don’t just throw clothes on a chair if you can wear them once more before laundry day—hang them or fold them and put them away. Keep dry clean–ready items in a separate section of your closet.

Have a dedicated hamper for every person in your home. One hamper is not enough. Have a laundry basket for each person in your house, plus an extra one for linens. If you feel like getting super organized, use hampers with two baskets so you can separate whites in advance.

Start a wash cycle as soon as you get home. If you have enough laundry, start a wash cycle first thing in the evening, so you have time to dry and fold. Don’t ever let unfolded laundry make it into your bedroom. Keep a folding area near your washer/dryer. Once clothes are ready, be ruthless about folding/ironing them as soon as the drying cycle ends.

Go to the Next Room: The Bathroom

Spray your shower with cleaner after each shower. Give your bath a quick clean daily by spraying it with cleaner, promptly wiping surfaces, and letting it rinse out.

Hang towels on bars and robes on hooks. Your towels need to properly air-dry to be able to reuse them two to three times. If you’re a bathrobe person, a dedicated fastener will keep it from lying on the floor.

Keep a laundry hamper in your bathroom for towels. It’s best not to leave towels on the floor or in the tub. If they’ve gone past their three-day use, it’s best to wash them and not let them sit wet.

Finish Tidying up the Bathroom in the Evening

Clear your countertops of clutter. Mornings get busy. Make a point at night to get ready in the morning by clearing out and putting away every product on your bathroom countertop.

Use an instant toilet bowl cleaner. Toilets are the least-glamorous to clean. Utilizing an instant-flush cleaner helps mitigate an overly-dirty toilet.

Wipe down the countertops after getting ready for bedtime. Once you finish your nighttime routine, give your bathroom countertops a quick wipe. Keep a stash of cleaning products in your vanity to make this process seamless.
